What is the Mid Iowa Volleyball League?
About us...
Our goal is to further the personal development of each athlete in a welcoming, light-hearted, respectful, and supportive environment. We want kids to have fun, learn the game and keep coming back!
Our League adheres to the 12 and under special rules as established by the Iowa Region and USA Volleyball.
Dates
We have the gym for 8 Sundays and in general, teams will play 7 out of 8 weeks with 1 bye week. On occasion, a team may get 2 bye weeks. The last week is reserved for a Madhatter-style tournament where all teams participate.

January 5, 12, 19, 26
February 2, 9, 16, 23
Seeding
Mid-way through the season, we will try to "seed" teams based on level of play so that teams of similar caliber can continue competing for the last several weeks.
Cost
Cost is typically $375.
STREAMING (From a parent)
- Requirements:
- ScoreCam app
- Twitch account - The app does charge a fee to enable live streaming. I use it for all my kids’ athletic events, so I purchased the yearly subscription; Also, in the Apple ecosystem, this fee will cover any device using the same Apple ID (Family Sharing does not apply) - I stream most events using either my iPhone or iPad.
- Benefits: ScoreCam provides a super simple scoreboard overlay for viewers to easily see the score. Initial setup to link the Twitch account is required, but instructions can be found in the app and online This is the easiest method I’ve found to quickly, and easily, get a live stream going with a scoreboard overlay

Reffing & Scoring
We appreciate standard scoring, but given the limited amount of time, we use a tick sheet and flip score. Makes it simple and avoids all unnecessary time delays you incur with errors in this age group. Reffing is the same as in USA Volleyball. An up referee, down referee, 2-line judges, and 2 scorekeepers at the score table.
Setup / Tear Down
The league performs setup and teardown. We ask parents to please throw trash in bins, and teams to ensure their team's camps are as clean as when they arrived.
Warm-Ups
Warm-up balls will be provided at the Junior High!
Concessions
We are not allowed to have concessions so please remind your parents to simply provide a healthy snack they can quickly eat between matches.
No popcorn or Goldfish Crackers please!
There are NO ADMISSIONS FEES!!!
